This exhibition was devised and curated from the outset in a mood of celebration. It marked the re-launch of of Gainsborough’s House, following its major building renovation that was successfully completed in the summer of 2006.
‘A special exhibition of Gainsborough’s Dogs, a theme not previously explored in a display, seemed an ideal one with which to re-open Gainsborough’s House. It provides an opportunity to bring together for the first time a group of exceptionally attractive works by Gainsborough, many of which have only rarely, if even, been shown in public before.’
