Join us to start a conversation with your family

At Gainsborough’s House we have a variety of free resources to engage families with our exhibitions and to foster creativity in those both young and old. We offer a range of creative activities suitable for all ages within the galleries and house and run a program of family events throughout the year.

Take a look below to discover what we are currently offering.

Upcoming family events

In the galleries

We have lots of activities to keep families busy within the galleries, such as our postcards filled with imaginative ideas for you to explore together. Draw, play, explore, and talk using these cards designed to prompt creativity, conversation, and fun.

In our temporary exhibitions, families can explore the artwork using our free family leaflets that can also be taken away and completed at home. This encourages our young visitors to think about the exhibition and what it means to them. What paintings, colours, people, and places can you find?

The Art Cart

Our very special Art Cart provides exciting activities for all ages, all free of charge. Add to our community sketchbooks, make your own crafts or take an activity bag around the exhibitions – let’s get creative!

You can find our Art Cart in the Landscape Studio on the second floor of the New Galleries. Why not tag us in your creations on Instagram with #GHArtyAdventures?
