HOUSE COLLECTIVE is a space for 16–25-year-olds to have a voice at Gainsborough’s House. The group brings together young people to share ideas, explore creativity and contribute to the future of the museum and its programmes.

Through HOUSE COLLECTIVE, members can help shape how Gainsborough’s House connects with younger audiences.

Our Manifesto


HOUSE COLLECTIVE believes in preserving the past, so it remains accessible to everyone in the future.

We value tradition, but we also believe it should be viewed with a critical eye. As the saying goes, “Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.”

We are passionate about looking after our local environment, celebrating our culture, and strengthening our community.

We see ourselves as one local brick within a much larger structure, making a meaningful contribution to national conversations and collective action through the work we do in our own place.

Get involved

HOUSE COLLECTIVE is a young person panel for 16–25-year-olds at Gainsborough’s House. Meeting monthly, members help shape events, workshops and activities, while learning how a museum works as well as gaining creative and professional experience.

No previous experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn! Members have opportunities to develop new skills, meet other young creatives and work alongside the Gainsborough’s House team.
