Young Access Printmaking Workshop – Drypoint Etching and Monoprinting

This introductory, one-day workshop is perfect for young people who would like to try printmaking for the first time or to experiment with processes they already know. It is also an opportunity to develop ideas from sketchbooks or coursework to enhance an existing portfolio and is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience.

You will be introduced to the techniques of monoprinting and drypoint etching, which can be used in combination to create stunning unique prints.

At the end of the day, you can expect to take home a series of prints which demonstrate both techniques, individually and in combination.

All materials are provided with each participant getting:

  • 1x A4 (or 2x A5) etching acetate plates
  • Use of monoprinting plates up to A3 size
  • Artist quality inks
  • 10x sheets of A4 artist quality paper

Experience level and age range

This course is for young people aged 16–21 years old wishing to learn a new technique or wanting to refresh their skills and develop their portfolio.

  • Explanation of the techniques and looking at examples.
  • Introduction to tools, equipment & techniques.
  • How to ink up the plates and develop layered images.
  • How to print using etching presses.
