Wood Engraving Masterclass with Anne Desmet RA

On this two–day course, you will learn the art of wood engraving from recognised expert, Anne Desmet RA.
As well as fine-line engraving on a variety of end-grain woods using a wide range of bespoke tools, Anne will teach hand burnishing on Japanese papers, printing with a press, and will introduce the creative possibilities of collage using wood engraved prints and unusual printed papers.
This technique suits individuals who enjoy working on a very small scale with a high level of detail. The course is suitable for beginners and/or intermediate level (those with some experience). Participants will go home with several engraved and printed blocks.

About Anne
Anne Desmet RA SWE is a specialist artist in wood engraving and mixed-media collage. Her prints have won over 40 national and international awards and are represented in museum collections worldwide. Nearly 50 solo shows over 30+ years include museum exhibitions in Italy, Brazil and Moscow and throughout the UK including the Ashmolean, Whitworth and Gainsborough’s House. Her latest solo show (2025–26) was at the Escher in the Palace museum, The Hague. Her latest book Wood Engraving: A Personal Approach was published in 2025 by The Crowood Press.
