with Dale Devereux Barker

This event is now fully booked.

Students will be encouraged to work with lino blocks initially on a small scale to produce exquisite jewel-like works. Students will learn the correct use of ink application, overlaying extra layers of ink, how to use cutting tools effectively and safely using presses, hand-printing and most importantly, confidence in taking the right creative decisions with their prints.

This 3-day course is conducted in a positive and supportive, jovial environment and Dale is keen to teach you all he has learnt over the past forty years of using this humble material.

This course would suit those curious to work with print and lino for the first time through to experienced practitioners who wish to re-invigorate their practice or reinvent themselves.

About Dale

My involvement with printmaking began as a twenty-year-old at Art school in Leicester forty years ago. A chance workshop in using lino delivered by an enthusiastic print tutor unleashed a lifetime’s preoccupation with the printed image. I still remember that day every time I visit the print studio and try and relive that moment of excitement – never knowing quite what results would be made from using a humble piece of lino in discussion with ink and paper.

Printmaking has sustained me physically and spiritually throughout most of my adult life; making prints is akin to an act of faith and I see no end to my fascination in this activity.
