Introduction to Lino

June 21 @ 10:00 am4:00 pm

with Karina Savage

Linocut is a relief printing process in which the lino block is cut away and the remaining raised areas are inked up and printed.

During this one-day course, you will learn how to plan and transfer your image onto a 15 x 15 cm lino block and how to use specialist tools to create a variety of line and textured effects. You will learn how to use inks and rollers and how to print using both a relief press and hand-burnishing. You will also explore the use of masking techniques to produce a range of varied and multi-coloured images from one block and how to use a variety of image registration techniques.

By the end of the course, you will have created a variety of unique prints to take home.

About Karina

Karina got her first taste of printing during her art foundation course at Norwich School of Art, creating large abstract screen prints exploring the potential of overlapping and reconfiguring simple colours and shapes. This exploration continued throughout her degree at Camberwell School of Art where her practice focussed on exploring the relationships and tensions between form, function and decoration.
