Introduction to Exposing a Silk Screen with Heidi Sharp

November 19 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Throughout this course you will be guided from start to finish through the process of screen printing using an exposed silkscreen.

The course aims to ensure that you learn the essentials of the process, allowing you to feel confident in screen printing independently in the future. At the end of the day, you will leave with a small edition of screen prints designed by you.

This relaxed, supportive workshop is perfect for people who have some experience of screen printing, eg, working with paper stencils or mono screen printing, and anyone looking to build their creative confidence. You’ll leave with multiple finished prints, practical screen-printing skills, and all the knowledge you need to continue printing on your own. All materials and equipment are provided.

What to expect

  • Learning how to prepare your screen
  • Understanding how to use the UV exposure unit
  • Exposing your print and taking a series of prints
  • Learning how to reclaim your screen

How to prepare

  • Participants must send images ahead of the course for preparation. Any questions? Please contact heidi@gainsborough.org
  • Images must be entirely black and white – not greyscale. Areas that are black will be inky, and areas that are white will remain white.
  • Wear clothes that you do not mind getting ink on!
