Our Autumn Art Fair (14-20 October) will feature over 100 original paintings and prints donated by artists from across the UK, to help us raise vital funds for our £8.5 million project to create a ‘National Centre for Thomas Gainsborough’.
A special thank you to members of our Print Workshop who together have donated an extraordinary variety of work, created in our innovative workshop – come and browse silkscreen prints, woodcuts, etchings, lithoprints and more from the likes of Carl Borges, Emma Buckmaster, Michael Carlo, Megan Fishpool, Colin Gale and Bryan Whiteley.
Noreen Grant, Joint-Chair of Gainsborough’s House Print Workshop, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the continuing pursuit and importance of printmaking in East Anglia and as practiced in all its disciplines within the House. It is also appropriate that sales of prints should help to fund the new National Centre as Gainsborough was himself a printmaker!”
The Fair also includes paintings by Chris Bennett, Tyrel Broadbent, Mark Cazalet, Stephen Chambers RA, Luke Elwes, Jelly Green, Olwen Jones, Tessa Newcomb, Sarah Nutley, Graham Rust, Gay Strutt and Julia Vezza.
Mark Bills added: “Our aim for Art Week is to close the gap on our fundraising target of a further £1.2 million by March 2018, needed to bring this project to fruition. It’s a great challenge but we hope that Art Fair, along with our Art Auction also taking place in Art Week, will give all those with a love of art a unique opportunity to bid for or buy a wonderful, original work – whatever their budget – and in doing so be part of this exciting and ambitious project.”
The Autumn Art Fair takes place at the Old Labour Exchange in Weavers Lane, Sudbury
14-20 October: Open daily from 10am – 5pm (Sunday 11am – 5pm).
