Visit us on Friday 15, Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 September to gain free entry to Gainsborough’s House!

Gainsborough’s House, birthplace museum of Thomas Gainsborough (1727–88), re-opened in November 2022 after a £10m development project, majority funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to refurbish and reinterpret the Historic House and build new galleries.

Our special viewing window in the new Landscape Studio has spectacular views over Gainsborough’s Sudbury landscape and on Friday 15 September visitors will be able to explore our Camera Obscura on a first come/first served basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see the great art of Gainsborough, along with exhibitions of international appeal including Maggi Hambling, all free of charge.

Visitors are welcome to visit the Watering Place Café with its views of the garden and newly refurbished and expanded shop.
