The Umbrellas – National Gallery Jigsaw Puzzle

£20.00

This painting from Renoir places you into the hectic Parisian streets. The top half of the artwork is full of umbrellas, sheltering everyone from the downpour.

The Umbrellas is a significant piece of art because Renoir had a shift in his painting style whilst completing this project. During the first stage of working on the painting he painted in a characteristically Impressionist manner which can be seen on the right side. On the left side the brushwork is more even and uniform and helps create a sense of three-dimensional form. As there was a 4 year interval in completing the art, you can clearly see the change in women’s fashion when you compare both sides of the painting.

The National Gallery jigsaw puzzle collection features renowned works of art exhibited at this famous gallery in Trafalgar Square, London. This jigsaw puzzle is housed in a planet-friendly box, made from recyclable materials and compact for less packaging.
