Heritage Open Days 2024
September 14 – September 15
September 14 – September 15
This is a fantastic opportunity to see the great art of Gainsborough, along with exhibitions of international appeal including Revealing Nature: The Art of Cedric Morris & Lett-Haines as well as The Iris Florilegium of Sir Cedric Morris, all free of charge. During your visit, don’t forget to head to the top floor to see our special viewing window in the Landscape Studio with spectacular views over the Sudbury landscape as well as Gainsborough’s House and garden.
As part of Heritage Open Days, on Sunday 15 September, the Gainsborough’s House Learning Team will be taking our nomadic Camera Obscura to Market Hill in the centre of Sudbury so visitors can enjoy the sights of Sudbury from a very different perspective. Come and say hello and have a go at capturing live images of this picturesque historic town.
During your visit, make sure you pop in to The Watering Place café situated at the heart of our site – the perfect place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat before visiting our Shop for a bit of retail therapy.
There are lots of other nearby events happening in Sudbury especially for Heritage Open Days: Roads, River and Rail of Sudbury, Free Guided Tours: Tales of the Talbot Trail & Weaving the Streets of Sudbury: Wool to Silk.
