Join us for a special In Conversation event with acclaimed artist Katherine Jones RA and Jo Baring, Director of The Ingram Collection of Modern British & Contemporary Art. Together they will explore ideas, inspirations and the process behind Katherine’s remarkable paintings and prints, currently on display in her exhibition Fine Ladies and Gentle Men here at Gainsborough’s House.
This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into Katherine’s creative journey – from the development of her intricate small panel paintings to the narratives woven through her striking large-scale prints.
Enjoy an informal and engaging evening of discussion and discovery, all set against the stunning backdrop of the rooftops of Sudbury from our beautiful Landscape Studio.

About Katherine Jones RA
Katherine Jones is a contemporary printmaker and painter who brings together complex narratives based on literary influences and natural forms. Using a wide range of techniques, her rich and layered surfaces often reflect ideas about safety and danger, with archetypal motifs of domesticity and nature. Elected as an RA in 2022, Jones is a widely respected lecturer in the UK and Europe.
Jones is currently a visiting lecturer in Fine Art Printmaking at universities and colleges across the United Kingdom and Europe. She was elected as a Royal Academician in 2022. Public collections include the V&A prints and drawings Collection, The Ashmolean Museum, Yale University Library and The House Of Lords.
About Jo Baring
Jo Baring is an art historian who is passionate about making art accessible to all.
Her popular podcast series Sculpting Lives was The Guardian’s ‘Podcast of the Week’ and was picked as a leading arts podcast by The Times, The Royal Academy and The Evening Standard. She is the editor of Revisiting Modern British Art which was called ‘a game-changer’ and writes for museums and national publications. Jo has given talks at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, the Tate, the Royal Academy and the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan amongst many other places. She has judged numerous art prizes including ING Discerning Eye, ARTiculation and Write about Art. She has written and presented two films on artist Elisabeth Frink for Heni Talks and appeared on BBC One’s Fake or Fortune.
In 2023 she was elected as the Frankland Visitor to Brasenose College, Oxford. She is the Director of the Ingram Collection of Modern British & Contemporary Art and a former Director of Christie’s UK. A graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art and Oxford University, Jo works with charities and schools to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to fall in love with art.
